ROLE:
Lead Designer

International Paper Recycling (IPR) is the commercial recycling and fiber-recovery division of International Paper, the largest pulp and paper company in the world. As part of OTTO’s design team, I contributed to the expansion of IPR's Sustainability in Motion brand language and content marketing. I worked on the design of IPR’s website as well as on the production of printed and digital collateral for the company.

Since International Paper already had an established visual identity and a clear design system, the challenge was finding new graphic approaches that felt authentic to the brand while also expanding it to give the recycling division a voice of its own. We played with hand-drawn illustrations, cardboard graphics, and various typographic and animation treatments to bring the IPR design system to life.

WEB DESIGN

I designed several sections of the IPR website, including the home page, locations page, and the Sustainability in Motion details page, which refers to the company’s end-to-end closed-loop circular economy model focused on recovering, sorting, and reprocessing fiber-based packaging to keep materials out of landfills. We were asked to create a very modular site, with components that are easy to reuse across new pages and contexts as needed.

RECYCLING FACILITIES OVERVIEW BROCHURES

I created 16 brochures tailored to 16 different IPR recycling facilities in the United States. The goal of these brochures was to provide an overview of the services offered at each location, as well as a brief explanation of IPR’s Sustainability In Motion model.

WHITE PAPER, ARTICLES + CUSTOMER STORIES

In addition, I was the lead designer for IPR’s Sustainability in Motion content marketing materials, which included digital versions (PDF and online) of the company’s articles and customer stories. I established the design system to be used for all subsequent articles and customer stories, and to help promote them, I collaborated on the creation of illustrations for teaser videos, e-blasts, and LinkedIn ads.
